Overview:
Wire formed stainless steel coil springs are precision components crafted through a wire forming process that starts with coiled wire, which is straightened before further processing. This technique can involve various machinery, ranging from manual equipment to advanced CNC machines, depending on the complexity and requirements of the product. Wire forms, including springs, clips, and hooks, are available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes to meet specific needs. We offer OEM and custom services, allowing us to tailor our wire-formed stainless steel coil springs to your exact specifications, ensuring high-quality, reliable performance for your applications.

Surface Treatment Options:
- Cleaning: The wire springs are thoroughly cleaned to remove any dirt, oils, or impurities that may affect the surface finish. This step ensures proper adhesion of subsequent coatings.
- Passivation: A chemical treatment process used to enhance the corrosion resistance of stainless steel by removing free iron from the surface and forming a protective oxide layer.
- Plating: Depending on the application, springs may undergo various plating processes such as zinc plating, nickel plating, or chrome plating to improve corrosion resistance, enhance durability, and achieve desired aesthetic qualities.
- 4. Heat Treatment: Springs may be subjected to heat treatment, such as tempering or stress relieving, to increase strength, improve elasticity, and reduce internal stresses within the material.
Manufacturing Process:
- Design: The process begins with designing the spring based on customer specifications or application requirements. This includes determining the size, shape, load capacity, and material grade of the spring. Computer-aided design (CAD) software is often used to create precise and functional designs.
- Material Selection: Stainless steel wire is selected based on the required mechanical properties, such as strength, corrosion resistance, and fatigue resistance. Common stainless steel grades for coil springs include 302, 304, and 316.
- Wire Cutting: The stainless steel wire is then cut to the appropriate length according to the spring’s design specifications. The wire’s diameter is carefully chosen to ensure optimal spring performance.
- Wire Forming: Using specialized equipment such as CNC machines or manual wire forming tools, the wire is coiled into the desired shape. The forming process can be done with compression, tension, or torsion techniques, depending on the type of spring being produced (e.g., coil, torsion spring, or compression spring).
- Heat Treatment: To enhance the mechanical properties of the spring, it undergoes heat treatment. This step, such as tempering or stress relieving, improves the spring’s strength, flexibility, and fatigue resistance.
- Surface Treatment: To protect the coil springs from corrosion and improve their performance, surface treatments such as passivation, plating (nickel, zinc, etc.), or powder coating may be applied.
- Assembly and Final Testing: If the spring is part of a larger assembly, it will be assembled into its final configuration. Each spring is subjected to rigorous quality checks to ensure it meets the required specifications for load capacity, durability, and dimension accuracy.
- Packaging and Shipping: After passing inspection, the wire-formed stainless steel coil springs are carefully packaged and shipped according to customer requirements.
